Shakira Named Harvard Foundation’s Artist of the Year

She’s one of the hardest working musicians out there, and the Harvard Foundation is planning on recognizing Shakira for her efforts.
According to reports, the Harvard Foundation has named the “She Wolf” singer as the 2011 Artist of the Year.
Shakira will receive “the Foundation’s most prestigious medal” in recognition of her music and charity work at the annual Cultural Rhythms festival – which is held at Sander Theater at Harvard in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
The foundation’s director S. Allen Counter said that the Colombian beauty was chosen to receive the accolade this year because of her musical contributions to culture and her work helping children in impoverished areas such as Haiti.
The ceremony is set to take place on February 26.

Shakira’s Successful Night at the 2011 NRJ Music Awards

Getting quite the warm welcome upon arrival, Shakira was the belle of the ball at the 12th annual NRJ Music Awards in Cannes, France on Saturday evening (January 22).
Working her way into the Palais des Festivals et des Congres venue, the Colombian cutie donned a darling black frock as she greeted fans before heading inside for the posh ceremony.
Making for quite the action-packed night, Shakira was among the star performers as she treated attendees to renditions of “Loca” and “Waka Waka”.
Also ending up one of the big winners at the NRJ Awards, the 33-year-old took home trophies for International Female Artist of the Year and International Song of the Year for her World Cup hit “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)”.
Shakira in Paris – Single Lady in the City of Lights

Getting used to the single life, Shakira enjoyed a fun-filled outing in Paris, France with her brother on Saturday (January 15).
The “Waka Waka” beauty roamed the French capital’s streets while visiting the Louvre and doing a bit of shopping in between taking time to greet her loyal fans.
The City of Lights excursion comes just after Shakira announced that she’s split with boyfriend on 11 years, Antonio de la Rua.
Revealing the breakup news on her web site, the Colombian singer said that the parting occurred this past summer, adding, “Our friendship and understanding of one another is unwavering and indestructible.”
