David Beckham Blogs About UEFA Cup

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009

David Beckham updated his blog today, writing about the recent struggles he and AC Milan have faced.

They were recently eliminated in the first round of the UEFA cup, when they drew both their matches against Germany’s Werder Bremen. While this wasn’t a loss for the team, Werder scored more goals on away turf, allowing them to advance over Milan to te next round.

They also recently lost to Sampdoria, failing to make up any ground in their Serie A standings. They now stand 12 points behind their city rivals, Inter Milan.

David was disappointed with both of these outcomes, and feels AC Milan needs to turn out more consistent performances to see the results they want.

He also writes about the launch of a new Adidas boot he attended in Milan, which he found quite fun. He’s always so appreciative of his fans and the time and effort they put in to come out and see him.

Madonna’s Stylist on the Victoria Beckham Collection

Monday, March 2nd, 2009

Madonna’s recent W spread with her 22-year-old boyfriend Jesus Luz, (which you can see here) was a racy, steamy exploration of Madonna as she finds herself post-divorce.

The shoot was styled by Catherine Hong and was so provocative that they interviewed her about it on W’s editor’s blog.

“I initially chose this dress for the classic 50s-60s slim silhouette, which was what I was after for our story,” Catherine said. “I was also intrigued since it is from Beckham’s debut collection — I liked the ’story’ of one pop star to another. And I was pleasantly surprised at the high quality of the dress. The fabrication, details and fit are very well thought out.”

Madonna looks amazing in Victoria’s dress and it’s quite a big deal that Victoria’s dress was featured so prominently in the spread! Victoria is definitely one to watch on the fashion scene, and the magazine editors are taking notice.

Victoria Beckham at Elton John Aids Foundation Party

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

Victoria Beckham looked stunning in a dress from her own collection at the 17th annual Elton John Aids Foundation Oscar Party. I love how the dress is unbelievably sexy without showing any skin.

Every year, Elton John hosts a spectacular Oscar-watching dinner party for 650 of his closet friends. The dinner party then morphs into a fantastic after-party that goes all night long. It’s the biggest fundraising event on Oscar night, bringing in thousands of dollars for the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

Victoria attended with her friend Eva Longoria Parker, who went for an androgynous look in a black tux.

Loads of stars who didn’t make it to the Oscars were in attendance - and loads more came after the show - including Sir Ben Kingsley, Claire Danes & Hugh Dancy, Gerard Butler, Ben Stiller & Christine Taylor, Quincy Jones, Keifer Sutherland, Whoopi Goldberg, and Sharon Stone.

Saks Fifth Avenue Drops Victoria Beckham Denim

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

Saks Fifth Avenue is no longer carrying Victoria Beckham’s jeans, dvb style, the New York Post reports.

The rumor is that Saks is upset that Victoria sold her dress line, the Victoria Beckham Collection, to Berdorf Goodman, even though Saks kept her denim line, despite poor sales.

“Saks dropped Victoria Beckham’s line” the Post’s source claims. “They were offended when she sold her dress line to Bergdorf’s and not to Saks, even though Saks launched her denim line in their New York store.”

Saks was frustrated with the sales of the line, as it was not selling as well as they expected. They thought, however, their loyalty to Victoria, would mean a first-look at her new collection.

The Post’s source chalks up the jeans poor sales to lack of appeal for the designer jean buyer.

“Nobody wanted to buy 0 jeans from someone who is not a trained designer,” the source explains.

While this is disappointing news, I doubt it’ll affect Victoria and her fashion enterprise much. Her second line of dresses is a critical smash and she’s doubling production from last year.

Beckham Boys Enjoy Day in the Park

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

The Beckham boys, Romeo and Cruz enoyed a fun day in Coldwater Canyon Park on February 20, Cruz’s fourth birthday! Romeo and Cruz played some basketball, football and some soccer. It’s great to see the boys outside having fun and I’m glad the camera don’t faze them.

Cruz looks exactly like a mini-David, with his close-cropped haircut and Beckham 23 Galaxy t-shirt. A nanny took the boys to the park, David was in Germany, getting ready for an AC Milan game. I wonder where Victoria was!

It looks like these two have some skills! I wonder where big brother, Brooklyn, is. He doesn’t seem to be as outgoing as these two and is very wary of paparazzi attention.

Victoria Beckham at Giorgio Armani Store Opening

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

Victoria Beckham looked smashing in a short, one-shoulder Armani dress for the grand opening of Giorgio Armani’s swanky new New York store on 5th Avenue. The star-studded party took place last night, February 17, as part of the New York Fashion Week festivities.

I love the shimmer of the dress and the looser, less fussy way Victoria has styled her hair for the event.

The multi-million dollar store was a very welcome addition to the fashion community in New York. Mayor Michael Bloomberg called the store a “vote of confidence in troubled economic times.”

Attendees included Caroline Kennedy, Leonardo DiCaprio, Alicia Keys, Peaches Geldof, Robert DeNiro, Liam Neeson, Peaches Geldof and Natalia Vodianova.

Victoria Beckham’s Second Collection a Hit with Critics

Wednesday, February 18th, 2009

Victoria Beckham unveiled her second collection from the Victoria Beckham Collection at Waldorf Towers hotel on Sunday.

The 25-look collection was reminiscent of her first 10-dress line, but showed a more adventurous and colorful side to the fashion icon.

The best part? Fashion critics are falling over themselves to praise the one-time pop star.

The London Times called the collection “a finely-structured and perfectly-tailored collection.”

The Telegraph demanded that “the critics have had to eat their words.”

The Daily Mail admits that Victoria “wowed the catwalks, the crowds… and me.”

The Guardian says the collection is “of visibly high quality.”

WWD admits “it seems that [Victoria] may indeed be no lightweight.”

The new line will have double the production numbers of last year’s collection. That is, 800 pieces of every item will be made, not 400.

The prices are steep and will start at 0 and will be sold at high-end department stores all over the world.
