Nick Lachey became a household name on Newlyweds, the reality show about his new life with then wife Jessica Simpson.  Now, the former boy band member is planning his comeback to MTV but this time he’ll be producing.

Nick’s 10-week series begins March 19 and focuses on a few students at Cincinnati’s School for Creative and Performing Arts, where Lachey graduated in 1992.

Here’s what Nick recently said about the upcoming show:

“I am really excited about that show because it is based on my old school, The Cincinnati School for Creative & Performing Arts, and will be a kind of “Fame” story. We are profiling six or seven high school seniors as they go through life not just as teenagers but as teenagers in the performing arts. I’ve been working on this for over a year and it’s exciting to get it on MTV.”

Tonight on The City, Whitney and her crew went down to Miami for a little vacay. Allie had to stay behind for a modeling gig which meant her boyfriend Adam got to travel unaccompanied. Naturally, Allie didn’t trust Adam to keep it in his pants so she enlisted Erin to keep an eye on him. That only sort of worked.

Meanwhile, Jay’s ex-girlfriend just so happened to be at the club which led to awkward times for Whitney. Once again, Jay denied that he and the ex hooked up while he was with Whit but she’s not buying it. Back in New York, Whitney and Jay have a talk about trust. That’s when Whitney delivers the line of the century, “this conversation is making me nauseous.”

Yesterday the paparazzi in Beverly Hills caught up with Adrienne Bailon the host of MTV’s “TRL” replacement “New Afternoons on MTV” which debuted on Monday.  I’m much more of a late night MTV watcher but I tuned in one day this week to see what these new afternoons were all about.

Basically, on weekdays from 4pm to 6pm MTV airs brand new episodes of “Sex…with Mom and Dad,” a revamped “Room Raiders 2.0,” and the latest installments of “Parental Control.”  In between the shows, they have segments hosted by Adrienne and MTV Tr3?s VJ Carlos Santos where celebs and reality show cast members drop by for some “couch time.”

If you’re not familiar with Adrienne, she got her start in a teen girl group called 3LW, rose to fame as a member of the Disney sensation The Cheetah Girls and gained infamy when nude photos that she took for her boyfriend, Rob Kardashian (yep, brother of Kim), hit the net.

She’s not on the latest season of the MTV reality show that made her famous, Making The Band, and she seems to have turned her back on her platinum selling group, Danity Kane, but that doesn’t mean Aubrey O’Day has stepped out of the spotlight. In fact, she (and her little dog) were all over New York for fashion week.

The pic above was taken at Richie Rich’s debut show at the Waldorf Astoria where Aubrey was inspired to get involved in Three Olives Vodka’s recently launched “What’s Your O-Face?” campaign.

Former Laguna Beach star Jason Wahler has just been hit with another lawsuit. This one stems back to the September 2006 incident that he just can’t seem to escape. Wahler and his then girlfriend discovered that a tow truck was blocking his parked car and went crazy on the drivers.

As a result, the bad boy was slapped with a misdemeanor battery charge, sentenced to a stint in rehab and placed on probation. In addition, Wahler was ordered to pay ,000 to one of the tow-truck drivers. Now the other driver has his hand out.

According to E! Online:

The second of those drivers, Jose Alarcon, is seeking 0,000-plus in damages from the once arrest-prone reality cad for allegedly violating his civil rights.

According to the lawsuit, Alarcon claims Wahler “committed acts of violence, threats of violence, and made racial epitaphs” toward him on Sept. 22, 2006, which he claims prevented him from doing his job and were furthermore done “with malice” purely “on account…of race.”

So last night on The City, Jay’s roommate Adam basically kicked him out so he and his model girlfriend could play house without a third party hanging around.

Just when I was about to start feeling sorry for Whitney’s boyfriend I got information letting me know that the Australian rocker dude isn’t exactly who I thought he was. So, I looked into it and this is what I found.

First of all. His name isn’t really Jay Lyon. At all. He was born Brent Tuhtan and he apparently consulted a professional name analyst to come up with a new moniker for him. Check out this link. At the bottom you’ll see an article detailing the name make-over.

Then there’s the whole past life as a successful model in Austrailia where he dated Miranda Kerr who just so happens to be the first Australian supermodel to appear in a Victoria Secret runway show.

So that’s all fine and good but after he broke up with Miranda, Brent/Jay briefly dated Tara Reid. Yes, that Tara Reid.

All of the evidence was starting to point towards Brent/Jay being in opportunist.  I was beginning to think that he was only using the show to further his career as the lead singer of his band Tamarama.  Unfortunately Page Six magazine did nothing to quell my fears.

According to Whitney Port’s TV boyfriend, Aussie rocker Jay Lyon, he is not dating the aspiring fashionista now, nor was he ever. A pal tells us the Tamarama singer is embarrassed by the MTV show. “Jay tells everyone that he’s single, and when he goes out, he makes a point of letting pretty girls know he’s available.”

The pal says Jay did the show to get exposure for his band, but he’s over the whole thing now. “He thinks that Whitney is nice, but they were never really together except for the cameras.”

The only question left is, was Whitney in on the whole thing from the beginning or did she actually have feelings for this model turned musician/celebrity dater?

Man, it must be really hard to be a cast mate on The Hills. Every now and then MTV might expect you to leave your glamorous life in Los Angeles to fly out to Hawaii and spend all day on the beach drinking beers with all of your friends.

Two of the MTV generation’s biggest stars, Chris Brown and Rihanna were allegedly involved in a domestic dispute in Los Angeles last week. Tonight at 6pm MTV will air a special about the alleged altercation and the larger issue of domestic violence.

According to the official press release:

“The special will discuss the events and ramifications surrounding the alleged altercation between the two. MTV News has gathered journalists, industry professionals and other experts to provide insight and commentary about what the incident means for both artists’ careers and lives, and society in general. The special will also take a look at the events that took place on the night the alleged altercation occurred and the influence of alleged domestic violence that Brown was witness to growing up. The special touches on issues that people face everyday and there will be a relationship expert on hand to offer advice to young people facing these same issues.”

Legendary west coast rapper Snoop Dogg recently snagged a new late night show on MTV called, “Dogg After Dark.” Although the show’s title isn’t incredible inventive the description in the press release seems promising.

“Dogg After Dark” will bring his Doggystyle swagger to the airwaves with raw interviews with A-list celebrities and musicians, hilarious sketch-comedy segments and musical performances from the hottest artists.

And by A-list celebrities they mean Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag.

Spencer makes a funny face as Snoop tries to escape. He can’t believe these two are appearing on his show. And judging from the picture below, Speidi can’t believe it either.
