Could Mischa Barton be headed to Melrose Place?

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009

25048pcn_Barton02-mischa-barton Our O.C. girl Mischa Barton could be headed to The CW’s Melrose Place remake.

According to Korbi Ghosh at Zap2it.com, an industry insider said Mischa tested for a role on the remake and the network is very excited about her.

Mischa was originally asked to portray Georgina Sparks on Gossip Girl, the role Michelle Trachtenberg makes so evil.

But Melrose Place would give Mischa, 23, the opportunity to transition from teen actress to more mature adult roles on the TV screen.

What role do you think Mischa should play on the Melrose Place remake?

Are you excited about the possibility of seeing Mischa on  your TV every week on a new TV show? I think if it works out to be the part she wants it to be, it could really kick her career up an extra notch.

Plus, Melrose Place, like 90210, will be of huge interest to the original viewers of the show. Adding The O.C. star Mischa to the mix would draw in some of the younger viewers who grew up with her as Marissa Cooper.

Mischa Barton’s Walled In DVD reviews start to filter in

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009

walled-in-dvd-mischa-barton-amazon As the release date of Mischa Barton’s Walled In thriller DVD from Anchor Bay Entertainment gets closer (March 17, but you can pre-order it now), reviews are beginning to come out.

DVD Talk has a Walled In review, noting:

Mischa Barton, Cameron Bright, and Deborah Kara Unger play their unusual characters very well in Walled In, and the setup is creepy and atmospheric.”

However, DVD Talk believes the Walled In should have stuck to its supernatural formula instead of going a different direction.

But, the review said the movie is worth a try and will provide lots of spooks, especially in the beginning hour.

The DVD includes “The Making of Walled In” featurette, which lasts 14.28 minutes, according to DVD Talk.

What the movie is about: In 1993, 16 bodies were found entombed within the Malestrazza building but the killer was never caught. Mischa stars as recent graduate and structural engineer Sam Walczak who prepares to lead the demolition project for the mysterious apartment complex, built by one of the most renowned architects, though eccentric. But as she begins the project, she realizes the halls are lined with secrets, and behind its walls, the ultimate horror.

Here are a few more photos of Walled In, and don’t forget to visit the movie’s main website, though there’s not much to it. In addition, look at the movie poster, which is pretty creepy.

Amazon has released an exclusive clip worth checking out which has Mischa Barton in a bathtub scene.

Mischa Barton in photos

Diner de la Mode - Paris

Here’s a new photo compilation video of Mischa Barton from Nellyamyjoss2 that I thought was worth sharing. It shows how versatile Mischa is in her photo shoots. She never looks the same. I guess that’s what makes her a good actress because she looks likes she’s so many different characters. I included the photo above because it’s a different pose from the other pictures of the Fashion Dinner for AIDS http://www.mischanews.com/2009/01/30/mischa-attends-fashion-dinner-for-aids/and I really like Mischa’s expression as well as the angle.

Mischa Barton cast in The Science of Cool teen film

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

Mischa Barton has been cast in a new movie from Double Helix Entertainment called The Science of Cool.

Inspired by classic ’80s teen movies such as Weird Science, Sixteen Candle, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, etc., The Science of Cool is about two of the biggest geeks in school - Neil Tobbler and his best friend Gilbert Stevens.

They love science, get good grades, are socially inept and can’t seem to meet anyone (especially girls!). But their lives change when they discover a formula which can transform nerbs into studs.

Sounds like Weird Science to me.

Jeremy Sumpter (Friday Night Lights) will play Neil. Mischa plays a character named Jane.

Others cast include Wii Wheaton (rumored), Masiela Lusha, Jessie Cave, DJ Perry, among others.

Tamra Tuni from NBC’s Law & Order: Special Victim Unit has signed on to direct the movie.

Mischa Barton speaks out on weight issue

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

51725ELMischa Barton, obviously tired of hearing and reading remarks about what people think about her weight, spoke out on the issue on her official website today.

Here’s Mischa’s words straight from mischabarton.com:

“So lately there’s been a lot of crazy press about my weight and just so you guys know I’m happier and healthier than ever so there is no need to worry about me. Things are really well in Mischa world and I’ve just been watching what I eat.

I still love my pilates and yoga, and have cut back on fatty foods a bit.  My time in India and Paris really just helped me lose a little bit of weight but there’s nothing drastic going on!”

As a person who reads up on Mischa Barton and reads the good, the bad and the ugly of what people think of her on a daily basis (and responds to many of the mean comments on websites and message boards), I am really impressed with this last part below – as she speaks directly to young girls:

“I appreciate the concern, I just wish the press wouldn’t harbor on it as I think it’s very unhealthy for young girls to read about and pay attention to.  To my female fans: Just be happy and secure with yourself and don’t let other people’s perceptions of you dictate the way you live your life.”

The title of her blog post is “Too Fat, Too Thin: Here’s what I think….”

While the media and websites have been harping lately on her weight loss, it wasn’t too long ago that everyone couldn’t quit talking about cellulite on the back of her legs (even though her figure was still rockin’). I’ve even seen pictures where the paparazzi purposely takes photos of the back of her legs or tries to take the worst photos possible.

Honestly, what right is it of the rest of the world to dictate how much someone weighs and then complain when they think they’ve went too far the other way? Why not talk to the parents of girls who have nearly died from bulimia or some other eating disorder because they think they aren’t skinny enough for society? In other words, we are in the middle of an economic crisis. We have lots of world problems.

Do we really have nothing better to do with our time than to decide on whether or not a celebrity is too skinny or too fat?

Mischa Barton’s “Hotter Than Hell” FHM Magazine Spread

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

sgy-006783-mischa-barton-g-star-fashion-show Wow! That is the only word I can come up with after viewing Mischa Barton’s recent magazine cover and spread in the April 2008 issue of the UK magazine FHM.

On her scantily clad picture in the cover, the words read: “Mischa Barton needs a little help with her clothes.” Click here to see the photos of her on the cover wearing only a black bra, white jeans unzipped to show off the top of her black panties, as well as the other racy photos.

Mischa also is very candid in this magazine interview which spans the length of her career including her beginnings as a child actress in The Sixth Sense, through her time on The O.C. to her recent movies and future projects. The magazine describes her as a “child ghost, faux lesbian, tabloid target, cellluid sexpot and still hot as ever.”

I found it interesting that she enjoys playing her Gibson acoustic guitar, attempting to play music by Led Zepplin and Lynard Skynard, though she admits she’s not very good at it.

About her career as an actress, Mischa says she reads about 25 scripts a week, according to the FHM article.

She also expresses her opinion about the things that are written about her, especially on the Internet.

“Nearly everything that appears about me on the web is untrue,” she says, noting that she’s learned to take it in stride and let it slide off of her.

About nude scenes: “Doing nude scenes doesn’t really bother me at all. It all comes down to whether I trust the director or not,” she says in the FHM interview.

Mischa Barton loves pilates

Saturday, February 21st, 2009

The talk about Mischa Barton’s more slender figure has been talked about quite a bit on by entertainment news sites and blogs recently.

At Tuesday night’s G-Star Raw luxury jeans fashion show in New York, Mischa responded to OK! Magazine’s questions about how she keeps in shape:

“I’m obsessed with pilates. I think it’s so fun.”

Mischa also denies starving herself.

“I don’t do any crash diets,” she says, noting that when she is filming she works out more.

“I do more cardio because I work long hours. Jogging, running — stuff like that’s really good before you do a film so you have more energy.”

What do you think about Mischa’s more slender figure?
