I think I might die of excitement. Mary-Kate Olsen is on the March 2009 cover of Canadian fashion magazine FASHION. Being Canadian, this is huge. It’s especially nice because FASHION, while a decent magazine, rarely scores A-list celebrities for their covers. I don’t think much else could say “fashion cred” than by putting MK on their cover.

It’s a gorgeous, simple cover and MK is smiling like she has a secret (see it here). The headline reads “I can’t stand looking like everyone else,” which I guess means the article inside is about her unique fashion sense. It also talks about what she and Ashley are up to now-hard at work on their brands The Row and Elizabeth and James.

According to Lainey Gossip, the shoot recently took place in New York City. MK is wearing a Stella McCartney dress and Alexander Wang cardigan on the cover.

The issue will be on newsstands next week. I have a subscription (eee!) so I promise I’ll let you all know what the article and editorial spread is like.

Buzz Foto caught Ashley Olsen and Justin Bartha enjoying themselves on a date Thursday night. The pair quietly took in the Kings of Leon concert at Madison Square Garden. They did their best to slip out unnoticed through a back door, but photos were taken anyway.

Ashley did her best to gide her face while she walked to the waiting car. I like her cropped leather jacket, I think it’s the same one she wore quite a bit a few years back.

I love how Justin seems oblivious (or apathetic!) to the cameras. I can imagine it must be frustrating for him-a mildly successful actor for whom any paparazzi photo would be good publicity-to date someone who vehemently (but understandably!) hate them. At the same time, it’s possible he abhors them as much as Ashley does.

Regardless, he seems sweet and understanding and appears to treat Ashley well. I just hope appearances aren’t deceiving!

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen had a business lunch together with some colleagues at the Soho House hotel in the Meat Packing District in NYC yesterday afternoon. The girls both arrived and left separately.

MK looked stylish in a military-inspired black coat, which I love, and motorcycle boots. She paired it with a great bag and her round sunglasses.

Earlier that day, MK was spotted out with their younger sister, Lizzie. Lizzie is gorgeous, I love her jacket. She’s studying at New York University and it’s rumored her major is theatre.

Ashley also chose black as her color of choice today, opting for a longer jacket and pairing is with a super casual jeans and sweater. Ashley usually looks more polished than Mary-Kate, but her hair is in a messy updo here!

Rosenmunns, a San Francisco-based designer who has been around since 2007, is making waves with their new “I Ate Mary-Kate” t-shirt. The satirical boxy, oversized shirt is meant to simulate an oversized physique, as the shirt itself could swallow Mary-Kate whole.

I’m really not a fan. It could be cheeky and cute, but it’s just not giving me that vibe. And for .00 (on sale at the Anica Boutique), you could make pretty much the same shirt for yourself for way less.

People magazine spotted Mary-Kate Olsen and her boyfriend Nate Lowman getting affectionate at New York’s Indochine this week. Despite the restaurant being super-busy because it’s Restaurant Week in New York, the couple were happily making out, oblivious to anyone who noticed.

I haven’t been able to find any pictures of the couple, so hopefully some will pop up soon! I’m especially wondering when MK and/or Ashley will be attending another event. January was a long and col month without any fashion inspiration from these gals!

Mary-Kate Olsen will be on the cover of the March 2009 issue of Interview magazine.

According to Fashionista, the photo shoot contains lots and lots of Proenza, a designer MK is a big fan of!

There’s no word on who is interviewing MK. I’m excited to find out! Who do you think should do the interview?

The choices are always intriguing and exciting but also relevant and thoughtful. For example, in the last issue, Lily Allen was interviewed by MTV VJ Damien Hirst and Mickey Rouke was interviewed by Christopher Walken.

Interview was founded in 1969 by Andy Warhol and John Wilcock.

Every month it features interviews with celebrities from various industries, mostly fashion, television, film and music. It’s a great magazine and it’s very exciting that MK is going to be their cover girl!

The issue should hit stores early February, so keep your eyes peeled!

Since Mary-Kate and Ashley seem to be laying low, I thought I’d take this down time to look at some of my favorite Elizabeth & James pieces. I love the Elizabeth & James line (and not just because Mary-Kate and Ashley designed it!). It’s young, fresh, hip and cool. Each piece is versatile and could be dressed up for dinner or a day at the office, or dressed down for shopping, partying or brunch with friends.

I’m currently in love with this sleeveless zipper hoodie dress. It’s sporty and has an edge to it, but still is flirty and fun.

I’d pair mine with a black, MK-inspired boot. I love this pair (.95) from Steve Madden.

Bright tights (this pink pair is from Nine West) are optional, but make the show more substantial if you go that route!

I’d add some edgy accessories too!

Both Mary-Kate and Ashley are in New York City this week and both girls have been spotted all over town the past few days. I don’t have legal access to some of the images, so check out the photos for yourself below!

Ashley Olsen was spotted in an oversized beige sweater and jeans, smoking a cigarette and drinking Starbucks as she left her aparement in the West Village in New York City on January 21 (photos).

Mary-Kate Olsen was seen picking up dry cleaning on January 2o in the West Village. She was wearing her round John Lennon sunglasses and a brown corduroy jacket (photos).

Either Mary-Kate or Ashley was spotted at a free yoga class at St. Marks on January 20, according to Gawker. One spotter thought it was Ashley and the girl with her was their younger sister Lizzie. Another spotted thought it was Mary-Kate and the girl with her was just a pal. There’s not photos, so I don’t know who! (Thanks jj!)

I’m really excited about the latest candids of Ashley Olsen. Both Ashley and Mary-Kate have been laying low since the holidays and any opportunity to see them is exciting!

Sunglasses

Any oversized Ray-Ban knock-offs will do for this look, as long as the color is right. I chose this ’80s style pair from Free People because they are only .99.

Bag

As for the bag, go for something large, simple and sleek, like this Pardu bag from Aldo. It’s normally .00, but currently on sale for .98.

Ashley Olsen was spotted looking winter-chic and leaving a brownstone in the West Village in New York City yesterday. She’s with a man several celeb sites are calling “a mystery man” but I’m willing to bet that he’s simply a bodyguard. Justin Bartha has nothing to worry about!
