The look book for the Elizabeth & James Spring 2009 collection was released today and Fab Sugar has a sneak peek for all of us to enjoy.

The collection is simply stunning, with sleek pieces that are loaded with originality and personality. The line is infused with a menswear look, but there’s a few really soft pieces that stand out.

The color palette is rich, filled with neutrals and eye-popping spring tones like peach and teal.

The look book itself is quite playful, with blow-up dinosaurs and kiddie pools!

My favorite pieces are this flirty nude dress and this retro white vest. Which pieces do you like the best?

A few weeks ago, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen unveiled their menswear line for their high-end brand the Row. The line was stunning, with a huge focus on tailored pieces and rich fabrics. It’s sure to be a hit with fashion forward male celebrities like David Beckham and Justin Timberlake.

It turns out Mary-Kate and Ashley’s foray into men’s clothing is not over! Yesterday, the unveiled a menswear line for their contemporary sportswear collection Elizabeth & James!

MK and Ashley sat down with WWD to give them a sneak peek of the line. It, too, has a strong focus on tailoring, and has a “rugged downtown flair” which complements the boho hipster vibe of the women’s line nicely.

“We knew eventually there would be a guy, a James,” Ashley told WWD.

The line is very versatile “because dudes want options,” said Mary-Kate. “And if they buy a great coat, they want to wear it all the time, starting when they buy it.”

Barneys New York will carry the line. Prices start at around 5 for a pair of dress pants. If you have a subscription to WWD, you can see a preview of two fall looks.

I really like the line. MK and Ashley understand their customer base. Elizabeth & James will appeal nicely to the younger, stylish set - think the boys and girls of The City - whereas the Row is about a more sophisticated customer.

Mary-Kate Olsen was seen out and about in Los Angeles, wearing a giant men’s jacket, skinny jeans and heels. On her arm was her favorite bag, the Alexander Wang studded beauty from his pre-fall 2009 collection.

MK had lunch at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills with a few friends. She must have been in a good mood because she gave the vale who parked her car a .00 tip!

Mary-Kate Olsen was a presenter at the 24th annual Independent Spirit Awards on February 21. The casual indie ceremony was held in a tent on the beach in Santa Monica and honored the best in independent filmmaking in 2008.

Mary-Kate presented the award for “Best First Screenplay” with her The Wackness costar, Ben Kingsley. The Award was won by Dustin Lance Black for his film, Milk, which chronicled the life and times of America’s first elected gay official, Harvey Milk. Dustin beat out Jonathan Levine for The Wackness.

I think MK looked beautiful at the awards. I love that she was asked to present - it shows how she’s been embraced by the independent film community. In her interview with FASHION she said she has a couple projects on the table for 2009 - I wonder if any of them will be independent films!

Mary-Kate Olsen looked stunning at the Independent Spirit Awards last night! I love her simple black dress and soft, romantic hair.

The Independent Spirit Awards were held in a tent on the beach in Santa Monica. The Spirit Awards honor filmmakers who embody the idea and spirit of independence and challenge the film making industry as it stands today.

The Wrestler took home Best Feature and its star, Mickey Rourke won Best Male Lead. Vicky Cristina Barcelona took home best screenplay and its star, Penelope Cruz, won Best Supporting Female. You can see the complete list of winners at the official website.

Mary-Kate’s film, The Wackness was nominated for Best First Screenplay, its writer, Jonathan Levine, lost out to Dustin Lance Black and his film, Milk.

Mary-Kate Olsen went for a black and white ensemble while she partied at the US debut of Wool & the Gang.

Wool & the Gang is a hip knitwear clothing line that creates unique basics from wool produced in the Peruvian Andes.

The party doubled at the unveiling of hip new space in New York City, The Smile, and was hosted by Julie Gilhart. The Smile is a mixed-use concept space, store and cafe, which seems right up MK’s alley. The Smile will be open for use on March 6. After the opening and show, everyone headed to an after -party at the Bowery Hotel.

MK seems to be having a great time this fashion week, taking it easy and only going to events and shows she really wants to be at.

Other attendees included Kirsten Dunst, model Erin Wasson, Michael Stipe, Shalom Harlow and more. Mary-Kate’s boyfriend, Nate Lowman, also attended. At the after-party, the twosome was seen making out on the dance floor!

I love how Mary-Kate reuses pieces. She wore this white blazer the day before when she attended the Proenza Schouler fashion show!

Mary-Kate Olsen looked striking in blue and her equally petite pal Nicole Richie looked fetching in red as the two of them sat in the front row of the Proenza Schouler Fall 2009 fashion show yesterday during New York Fashion Week.

Overall, it’s been a farily subdued fashion week in terms of celebrity sightings. Marc Jacobs didn’t invite a single celebrity and this is MK’s first show this season. She’s been a long-time fan and supporter of Proenza Schouler and is quite good friends with them, so it makes sense she’d attend.

I must say, it’s really refreshing to see MK is something that isn’t black! I love the color of her dress! She and Nicole had a lot of catching up to do - I don’t think they’ve seen each other in a while. Nicole is mostly in Los Angeles, playing mommy to daughter Harlow and MK has been in New York a lot lately.

Mary-Kate Olsen was one of many stars who came out to see Vladimir Restoin-Roitfeld’s Louis Vuitton sponsored exhibit opening at 169 Bowery. on February February 17.

The exhibit featured the work of three up-and-coming photographers, PC Valmorbida, David Mushegain and Salim Langatta.

MK went for a casual, arty look, with a messy semi-updo and an oversized silk jacket. She looked refreshed and happy, which is nice to see.

Paris and Nicky Hilton, Gisele Bundchen, French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld (mother of Vladimir), model Lily Donaldson (Vladimir’s current girlfriend), Zoe Kravitz and MK’s and Paris’s ex , Stavros Niarchos, all came out to see the show. You can see photos here and here. The party looks like it was great fun and that Vladimir’s exhibit will be a smashing success.

Mary-Kate Olsen has been having a pretty low-key fashion week. She and Ashley gave a private training seminar for The Row at Saks Fifth Avenue on February 16. The girls’ looks complemented each other in black and white. See photos here.

Yesterday, MK did a bit of shopping at Dual Star in Manhattan. She carried her favorite Alexander Wang studded bag and wore an oversized black coat. She topped the look off with a pair of giant wedge heels.

I wonder what’s in MK’s bag. She must have known what she wanted, as eyewitnesses say she wasn’t in the store very long before taking off with her bodyguard in an SUV.
