Anne Hathaway does not emulate Angelina Jolie

Anne Hathaway admires Angelina Jolie but she only emulate her attitude towards fame only and not trying to be like her.

She explains, “I love Angelina, I think she is beautiful - but it is not my aim to be just like her. I admire what she does greatly. She uses her fame in a good way - and that is what I hope to do too: to make a difference.

“Aside from getting a nice table at a nice restaurant and occasionally getting free clothes, fame can begin to seem very empty.

“And if you do not take certain steps to use it for something good it can really consume you and make you completely self-obsessed.”

Angelina Jolie runs for cover on the set of Salt

Thursday, March 5th, 2009

Angelina Jolie was seen running (for cover? For her life?) on the set of Salt in Washington, DC. This time she was back to being a blond, tucking the hair under a little knit cap, and was wearing a camel peacoat, jeans, and low-heel boots.

I think that seeing little glimpses of scenes that are likely going to be very high-action is such a great way to create buzz around a movie. Rather than spoiling the movie for us, I find that it just makes me anticipate it even more. Usually we see Angelina walking around casually, either all dressed up and graceful on the red carpet or going somewhere with her kids. We don’t see her running at full speed around the streets of Washington, so that instantly makes me curious and I want to know what’s going on in this scene. Is she running to get somewhere quickly because she needs to beat someone to some documents? Is someone chasing after her and she’s trying to get away? Is she just in a hurry because the clock is ticking? We don’t know the answer, so it makes it all that much more exciting, waiting to see the movie..

I have to say, I think Angelina looks really beautiful with the blond hair. She looks best with her own natural brown, but the blond suits her so well too. I like the knit cap too, I’ve been wanting one of those for awhile.

The photos make me giggle a little bit because running looks a bit silly when it’s frozen in a still picture but they are definitely getting me geared up for seeing this movie next year!

Angelina Jolie gets into character for Salt

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009

There are a lot of different looks for Angelina Jolie in the upcoming film Salt and Sony has released another still shot for us to see.

This particular scene strips away all of Angelina’s usual beauty and shows us Evelyn A. Salt looking haggard and possibly in undercover mode. It’s been said that the character’s appearance will sometimes be almost unrecognizable and this is clearly a sample of that.

Definitely not my favorite look, but that’s all part of taking on a role like this. Does anyone remember when Charlize Theron played in the movie Monster? Charlize is up there in the “beautiful people” club for sure, but in that film she looked absolutely awful and incredibly ugly, something you wouldn’t even expect to be possible.

Angelina is so often defined by her jaw-dropping beautiful appearance that it’s nice to see such a change in this shot!

Let’s hope that Sony will continue to release more publicity shots, I love getting little sneak peeks at a movie long before it’s released!

In related news, Salt is indeed filming in Washington, D.C. right now - Christine sent me this link, maybe if you’re local you can check it out from afar! Meanwhile, it seems the whole family may be in D.C. because this site is claiming that Brad Pitt will be attending a meeting in Washington on Thursday.

Busy family, whew!

Angelina Jolie as Evelyn A. Salt

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009

Angelina Jolie is already hard at work on the set of Salt and courtesy of Sony Pictures here’s a quick peek at just two of the looks that Angie will have in the movie. In one shot she’s got dark brown hair somewhat similar to her own color, long and straight with bangs. In the other she’s sporting long blond hair.

USA Today has a nice article up about the movie. The general synopsis of the movie is that Angelina plays Evelyn A. Salt, a CIA spy who has been accused of working for the Russians. The film follows her efforts to clear her name.

Originally the movie was about a character named Edwin A. Salt and the role was meant for Tom Cruise. When Tom backed out for various reasons, they actually re-wrote the script to make it work for a female character instead so that they could hire Angelina instead.

I would probably be keen on seeing Salt even if it was Tom Cruise in the role because his action movies are always fun to watch. However, I think that the movie is going to be a huge hit because male spy movies are a dime a dozen; having a woman cast in the lead role as a spy makes the story that much more interesting. Also, while I love seeing Angelina in heavy, dramatic roles like A Mighty Heart or Changeling, I also really enjoy seeing her in action roles. Ever since I learned that she does as many of her own stunts as she possibly can, I find them even more exciting.

What do you think of her two looks? Naturally she looks amazing in the top photo because her hair isn’t much different from her usual look. I really like the blond hair too; not everyone can pull off going lighter but this is Angelina Jolie. They could put her in a curly pink wig and she’d still look amazing!

Brad Pitt comes back to New York City

Sunday, March 1st, 2009

After just a brief trip out of New York City’s JFK airport the other day, Brad Pitt was spotted at LAX in Los Angeles, heading back to his family on the East coast. We knew he wouldn’t be away for long!

As far as I have seen thus far, Brad wasn’t photographed at all in L.A. but I still think that he was likely doing some Plan B business, solidifying plans for his next film, or perhaps in discussions for other productions.

More photos of Brad Pitt at LAX below the cut!

Okay, who wants to work security when Brad Pitt is traveling? “Sorry sir, I’m going to have to, uh, pat you down. A bit more. Hang on…” :)

Brad Pitt flying solo out of JFK airport

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

Brad Pitt was spotted arriving at JFK airport in New York City today, preparing to hop a plane for an unknown destination. He’s often not exactly thrilled to see the paparazzi when he has his kids with him, but he seems happy enough when he’s on his own - love the big smile!

Although there’s no word yet as to where he’s headed, he did have a business meeting not too long ago when the Jolie-Pitt family was out in Los Angeles. He may have a follow-up meeting. There’s a lot going on with Plan B, including prep work for The Lost City of Z, so that’s my official “guess”.

Regardless, I don’t imagine that Brad will be gone for long because Angelina Jolie has filming for Salt and we all know that they try to separate their work as much as humanly possibly so that at least one of them is with the kids.

Brad Pitt gets a consolation “Oscar Award”

Friday, February 27th, 2009

This is a cute story that I’ve seen floating around - I haven’t confirmed it as officially true yet, but it sure is adorable.

Allegedly, after Brad Pitt lost out for Best Actor at the Oscars, with Sean Penn winning instead, Axe (yes, the deodorant/cologne company) send him a chocolate statue bust carved in Brad’s likeness. The statue was sent with a note saying, “We still feel your performance deserves a statue, one that’s a bit sweeter.”

Isn’t that hilarious? I’m not sure how I would react to a giant chocolate shaped like my head - this one is apparently made of dark chocolate and weighed in at ten pounds.

Axe has been using chocolate statuettes for publicity so they just shipped one especially to Brad in solidarity for his performance in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

So far I haven’t heard of any other nominees receiving chocolate! If this story is true, it sure makes me smile.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt take the kids to Little Mermaid

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie didn’t stick around Los Angeles for very long after the Oscars wrapped. With filming for Salt ready to go , the Jolie-Pitt family was back in New York in short order.

Despite the fact that she’ll be working hard on her spy flick, Angelina was able to join Brad while they took Maddox, Pax, Zahara, and Shiloh into New York City to see a production of “The Little Mermaid” on Broadway.

What a fun outing for the kids! I’d love to take my kids to see a fun Broadway children’s show - I hope they enjoyed it!

More photos of Brad, Angelina, and the four older Jolie-Pitt kids on their way to Broadway below the cut!

(LOVE Angie’s boots!)

Meanwhile, prior to their outing today, Angelina Jolie arrived with Liev Schreiber at a Long Island warehouse to start filming Salt yesterday. Photographers attempted to catch them as they got there but security created a photo barricade with their vehicles to stop that. I guess they don’t want to give too much away before the movie wraps!

That’s the warehouse where at least some filming will be taking place. Photo used with permission: Bauer-Griffin

Candid Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie moments

Thursday, February 26th, 2009
Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Tanay Hermant Chheda

I love seeing photos of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie on the red carpet when they’re posing, but sometimes my favorite moments are the real ones, the candid moments where you get to see them truly enjoying themselves without always having to be aware of the cameras around them. For instance, the photo above when Brad and Angelina, ever drawn to kids, went over to speak to Tanay Hermant Chheda, one of the younger stars of Slumdog Millionaire who had been flown from Mumbai to attend the Oscars. It’s such a great slice of their life.

On that note, since Brad and Angelina are currently - thankfully, for them! - off the radar and hopefully getting a bit of rest in this post-award season, before Angelina starts filming Salt, here are some of my favorite candid Brad and Angelina moments at this year’s Oscar awards.

Oh that look. Whew!

81st Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals

I wish I knew what was going on here, it’s hard to tell when this was during a 3+ hour award show, but whatever happened, Brad was clearly very happy about it! Possibly either one of his friends just won something or it was after The Curious Case of Benjamin Button won one of the technical awards.

81st Annual Academy Awards - Show

For all the people who somehow keep saying that Brad and Angelina - Angie in particular - are never really happy when other people win something, I can only say, “huh?!” and offer up this photo where they are obviously cheering someone on:

81st Annual Academy Awards - Show

And possibly my top fave, amid all the action and noise, Brad and Angelina score a private moment:

81st Annual Academy Awards - Show

Wonder what he was whispering to her!
